Promo codes
In the appMarketing → Codes
A promo code gives one buyer a reduction at one vendor. The vendor’s price doesn’t change. The buyer types the code in a box on the vendor, pays, and gets the discount back in L$ right after. To compare with discounts and loyalty offers, see which tool for which sale.
Two kinds of code, one form
| Kind | How to set it up | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign code | Under Who can use it?, choose Anyone. Usually add a limit and an end date. | A public code for a sale, a group notice, an event |
| Personal code | Under Who can use it?, choose One avatar and type their name. From a support ticket, Send code + resolve creates one in a click (support). | A make-good or a VIP gift for one customer |
Create a code
- On the webOpen the formGo to
Marketing→Codesand click Create your first code (later: New code). - On the webWhat is the code?Type the Code: letters, digits,
._-. Buyers can type it in any case. Choose the Discount in % or L$. Applies to is Whole shop unless you pick Specific products. The Description is for you only. - On the webWho can use it?Anyone, or One avatar: type their name and Plurion finds the avatar.
- On the webAny limits? All optional (see the table below). Then click Create code.
| Limit | What it does |
|---|---|
| Minimum purchase | The item’s regular price must reach this amount. Useful with a fixed L$ code, so “L$50 off” can’t make a L$40 item free. |
| Max uses (total) | How many times the code can be used, all customers together. Leave it blank for no limit. |
| Max per customer | How many times each avatar can use it. The default, 1, means one discounted item per customer. Raise it to let a customer use the code on several items. |
| Limit to a time window | Tick it for Starts at and Expires at (your computer’s time zone). Unticked, the code is active at once and never expires. |
Tell your customers how to use it
Customers won’t find the code box on their own. Add one line to your group notice, notecard or sign, for example:
What your customer does in Second Life
A left click pays straight away, so the code comes first. If the code can’t be used, the vendor’s answer says why (When a code is refused).
The code counts for the next payment on that vendor, and a use counts only when the customer pays. For a second item, they type it again on that item’s vendor, if Max per customer allows it. During a scheduled discount, the code is worked out on the regular price (how reductions combine).
When a code is refused
| Your customer reads | Why | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| “Code SUMMER25 has expired.” | Its time window has ended. | Edit it and move Expires at. |
| “Code SUMMER25 isn't active yet.” | It hasn’t started yet. | Wait, or move Starts at. |
| “Code SUMMER25 isn't active right now.” | It’s paused. | Edit it and set Status to Active. |
| “Code SUMMER25 has been used up.” | Max uses (total) is reached. | Raise it. |
| “You've already used code SUMMER25.” | Max per customer is reached. | Raise it, if you want. |
| “Code SUMMER25 doesn't apply to this item.” | The product isn’t in Applies to. | Add it. |
| “Code SUMMER25 doesn't apply to an item at this price.” | The price is under Minimum purchase. | Lower the minimum. |
| “Code SUMMER25 isn't valid.” | A typo, a revoked code, or a code reserved for another avatar. The box never says which, on purpose. | Check the spelling and who the code is for. |
| “Can't check the code now, try again.” | A passing hiccup. | Ask them to try again in a moment. |
If a code stops working between typing and paying (expired, paused, or the last use went to someone else), the sale still goes through at the price paid, with no refund. The vendor says why in its thank-you line, for example “Your promo code ran out before you paid, so no L$ comes back.”
Edit, pause or revoke a code
- Edit (the pencil on its row): change the amount, the products, the assigned avatar, the limits and the dates. Only the code itself and its type (% or L$) are fixed.
- Pause: in Edit, set Status to Paused, and back to Active to resume.
- Revoke (the cross) disables the code for good, and its name stays taken. Past uses stay in your sales history.
- Follow it. The tabs Live, Personal, Paused and Ended sort your codes. Click a code to see who used it and when. Each sale’s detail in
Salesshows the Promo code used.
