Products: your catalog

In the appStore → Products

An item is what sits in your DropBox. A product is that item in your catalog, with a name and a price. Your vendors sell it, and the DropBox delivers it. Change a product once, and every vendor selling it updates.

Create your first product

You need an item in a connected DropBox. Then, on the dashboard:

Quick setup: only the item and the price are required
  1. Open Products. Your new item waits in the Inbox at the top (if not, reload the page).
  2. Click Make it a product. Quick setup opens with the item picked (1). Or click New product and pick the item.
  3. Check the name (2) and type the price in whole L$ (3), the only field you must fill.
  4. To sell it right away, pick a waiting vendor under Or link a waiting vendor (4). Otherwise link a vendor later.
  5. Click Create product (5).
If something’s off
  • The item isn’t offered. Come back to the page, or reload it. Only objects are offered (put a loose notecard or texture in a box first), and an item that already belongs to a product is hidden.
  • A price of L$0 means “not for sale” on a vendor, which shows the product without a Pay button. Quick setup warns you when you type it.

Everything else gets a default (an automatic SKU, status Active, redelivery and online shop on). Change it on the product’s page, or under Advanced in Quick setup.

Product pictures

A product can have two pictures, both optional. They don’t show in the same places:

In-world vendorsYour dashboard and online shop
SL texture (its UUID)✓ Shown on the vendor✓ Shown, unless there is an uploaded picture
Uploaded picture (PNG or JPG)✗ Never✓ Shown first
Getting a texture UUID, and using both pictures

To get a texture’s UUID, right-click it in your inventory → Copy Asset UUID (full-permission textures only). No SL texture? The vendor keeps its own picture, and if the product has none yet, linking a vendor takes the texture from its face.

Want both pictures? Quick setup takes one or the other. Paste the UUID there, then upload the picture on the product’s page (Product section).

New items and new versions: the Inbox

Objects in a DropBox that aren’t products yet wait in the Inbox at the top of Products. The page rereads your DropBoxes each time you open it or come back to it.

The Inbox: a new item, and a new version of a product you sell
The Inbox showsWhat you can do
A new itemMake it a product opens Quick setup with the item picked.
Update? (an item that looks like a newer version of a product)Review update opens that product with the new item swapped in, then Save changes. If it’s a separate product, click New product.
An item you don’t sell (a spare, a backup)Ignore hides it (it stays in the box). 1 ignored brings it back with Restore. Saved in this browser only.
New versions, in detail

Plurion compares item names, ignoring case, a version marker (v2, _v3) and a trailing boxed. So Aurora_Jacket_v3 is offered as the update of Aurora_Jacket_v2, but Aurora Jacket v3 (spaces) or an older version isn’t. When in doubt, it suggests nothing, and nothing changes until you click.

To swap by hand, put the new version in your DropBox first, then pick it under Delivery → Item to deliver and click Save changes. The SKU and sales history stay, and future sales and redeliveries send the new item. To tell past buyers, see Product updates.

A product’s page

Click a product (or its Edit button) to open its page. Change what you need, then click Save changes at the top, and your linked vendors update within seconds.

The page’s six sections
  • Product: name, price, status and pictures.
  • Delivery: the item to deliver, and whether buyers can redeliver it themselves.
  • Online shop: whether it’s listed online, its description and its permissions.
  • Revenue splits: pay a partner on each sale (owners and admins; see Splits).
  • Advanced: SKU, private keywords, and Duplicate…
  • Danger zone: Delete…

On the right, Where it's sold shows its vendors and prices, whether your online shop lists it, and which DropBox holds its item.

Setting up a vendor offers only Active and Sold out products. Duplicate… makes a Draft copy with the same item (no split rules), handy for an event price or a fatpack. Delete… asks you to type the SKU. Its vendors stop selling it, your sales history is kept, and the SKU stays reserved.

Managing your catalog

The search box looks in product names, SKUs and item names. Above the list, filter by status (All, Active, Drafts, No inventory, Archived), by Online shop (listed or not), and by folders with the tabs at the top.

Edit many products at once

Tick several products (Shift+click for a range), or the box before a folder’s name for all its products. In the bar at the bottom, set a Price, the Permissions, Online shop or Redelivery, then click Apply. Only what you touch changes, and a price change asks you to confirm. Owners, admins and managers can do this.

Folders and families

A folder sorts your products by type, like heads, bodies or women’s clothing (1). A family stacks the versions of one item in a single card, since in Second Life each color is its own product (2). The demo shop under Explore is sorted this way.

A folder frames its products, and a family stacks the colors of one item

Folders and families only arrange your dashboard. Prices, sales, deliveries, vendors and your online shop don’t change.

How folders and families work
  • Folder: each product is in one folder, or in Uncategorized. A folder’s color frames its products in the card view, and the tabs at the top show one folder at a time.
  • Family: 2 products or more, in the same folder. Closed, it’s one stacked card with the price range and total sales. Open, each card shows only what sets it apart (Black, Olive).
  • A family moves as a whole. Moving one of its products moves them all.
  • A family left with one product disappears. That product stays in its folder.
  • Deleting a folder deletes no product. Its products move to Uncategorized, families included.
  • A family keeps the order you gave it. Its closed card shows the starred product’s image, or else the first image in that order.
  • A folder sorts by its Order. Manual keeps yours, with new products at the end. For Newest and Best sellers, a family counts as its newest product, or as its products’ total sales.
  • Your browser remembers what’s open and the selected tab, for each shop.
  • In the list view, a Folder column shows each product’s folder, and a family is a row that unfolds.
  • On a product’s page, the Folder box changes its folder at once (no Save changes needed) and shows its family, with Remove from family. Quick setup has a Folder field under Advanced.

Owners, admins and managers can organize them. A viewer can only filter with them.

Set up folders and families, step by step
  1. Create a folder. Click Folders at the top of the catalog (New folder while you have none), type a name and click Add folder. The same window renames, recolors, reorders and deletes folders.
  2. Put products in it. Tick products, then in the bottom bar’s Folder group click Set, choose the folder and click Move.
  3. Group the colors of one item. Tick its products and click Group as in Family. Edit the suggested name if you like (and pick a folder if they’re in several), then click Group.
  4. Add a product you forgot. Tick it, click Set in Family, choose the family and click Add to family. Remove takes products out.
  5. Order a family and pick its image. Click the pencil in an open family’s header. Drag products to order them, and star the one whose image the closed card shows. Click Save.
  6. Name and order a folder. Click the pencil in the folder’s header, rename it and pick an Order: Manual (drag the products), Name A–Z, Newest or Best sellers. Click Save.
  7. Open and close. Click a folder’s name to fold its frame, a family’s card to open it, and its Family line to close it. In the card view, ⋯ holds Group by folder, Expand all and Collapse all.

SKU, keywords and partners

SKU: your product code

Plurion makes one from the item name. You can type your own under Advanced (letters, digits, dot, dash, underscore), like AURORA-JACKET. Rename it later on the product’s page, and sales history, vendor links and update audiences keep working. Pick something lasting, since it’s how you’ll spot the product in exports.

Description and keywords

The description appears on the product sheet of your online shop, line breaks included (up to 4,000 characters). Keywords are hidden from customers. They help you find the product, for example when you fill a gacha machine.

Pay a partner from this product

Owners and admins can add a partner and a share here, when creating or editing. It works like the Splits page. The share is computed on what the customer paid, after any discount, and sent in L$ at each sale.

Common questions

If I change a price, do I have to touch my vendors?
No. Linked vendors get the new price within seconds. If a customer pays the old price in between, Plurion fixes it. Paid too much? The sale goes through at the right price and the difference is refunded. Too little? The payment is refused, and the vendor refunds it.
Are there product variants?
There’s no variant screen, since in Second Life each color is its own product. To show them as one card on your dashboard, group them in a family. For another price on the same item (an event price, say), use Duplicate… for a second product that delivers the same item, at its own price.
Can I sell something that isn’t in a DropBox?
No. In Second Life, only an item’s owner can give it, so the item must sit in an object of yours, your DropBox. That’s also why nothing you sell passes through Plurion.
A teammate can’t edit products.
Owners, admins and managers can create and edit products. Only owners and admins see Revenue splits. A viewer sees “View only: your role can't edit products.”, and a CSR can’t open Products. Roles are set on Team.
