Gift cards & store credit

In the appMarketing → Gift Cards

A Plurion gift card is store credit for a named avatar, bought at your Plurion Terminal for any amount in L$. The recipient spends it in your online shop, and your DropBox delivers. The credit is theirs as soon as it’s paid, with no card object to lose or resell.

  1. The buyer pays your Plurion Terminal (any amount)
  2. The recipient gets store credit and a message in their local chat (no link)
  3. They pick a product in your online shop
  4. Your DropBox delivers it in-world
A gift, from the terminal to delivery

How a customer sends a gift

Your buyer does it all at the terminal, in Second Life. They type the recipient’s username (like robin.resident, not their display name), add an optional message (up to 200 characters, or skip), then pay any amount.

At the terminal: what your buyer sees

Then, within seconds:

  • The recipient gets a message in their local chat, with no link, since a link in a message looks like a Second Life scam. If they’re offline, Second Life delivers it at their next login, and the credit waits either way.
  • The buyer gets a link to a card saying “Max Resident sent you a gift”, to forward for the surprise. The card can’t spend anything.
  • You get a Gift card sold row in Sales and a new line on the Gift Cards page.

How the recipient spends it

Store credit is spent on the web, in your online shop. Your in-world vendors take L$ only. The recipient opens their page for your shop from your Plurion Terminal (Access my page) or at app.plurion.io/me/login (all the ways in).

There, Online shop (or Spend it → on the credit banner) lists what they can buy. They pick a product, your DropBox delivers it like any sale, and the balance drops at once. Recent credit activity on their page lists every gift, purchase and refund.

The money: what counts as revenue

You already have the money behind Outstanding liability, so what you owe is products to deliver. Credit doesn’t expire. Where the money comes from has the full accounting.

If a delivery fails

If a product bought with credit can’t be delivered, Plurion puts the credit back automatically. The customer sees it in Recent credit activity.

The Gift Cards page

Owner and admin only. From top to bottom:

  • Outstanding liability: the credit customers can still spend (“you owe products, not L$”).
  • Credit sold (gifts and top-ups at your terminals, all time), Redeemed (the share of it already spent) and Average gift.
  • Credit sold vs spent · 6 months: the two curves, month by month.
  • By gift lists your 500 most recent gifts (past that, the page says so): buyer → recipient, amount, message, date. By customer lists who holds credit, the 500 highest balances, filtered by Unspent, Partial or Spent. Click any row to see that customer’s credit history.
Why a gift can’t be misused

Your terminal can only credit your shop, since the shop comes from the terminal’s own signed identity. The terminal checks the recipient before it accepts any money, so a banned avatar can’t receive a gift and no L$ moves. Only the recipient, signed in as their avatar, can spend the gift.

Common questions

A buyer wants their gift money back. What can I do?
You can’t remove or adjust credit from the dashboard. You can refund the L$ yourself in-world, but the credit stays on the recipient’s account, so settle it with both of them first.
Can I give a customer credit myself, as a make-good?
Not directly. Credit only comes from payments at your terminal. For a make-good, use a personal promo code for one avatar (see Promo codes).
