Vendors

In the appStore → Vendors

A vendor is the object your customers pay. Your DropBox gives them the item. Set it up once, then change prices, products and pictures from the dashboard.

What you need

  • An Active product on Products, with its item in a connected DropBox.
  • Plurion [Vendor], from your Starter Pack (where to get it).
  • Land where you can rez and run scripts, without auto-return.
  • Stay in the region until the last step, where Second Life asks for a permission.
Using your own vendor prim instead

Rez the Plurion [Vendor] object, then drag its script from Edit → Content into your inventory, and from there into your own prim. Keep the script’s name and follow the same steps. The picture shows on face 1 and covers any texture there. Wrong side? Rotate the prim.

Set up a vendor

  1. In Second LifeRez itDrag Plurion [Vendor] from your inventory to where customers will see it. It shows “Reconnecting...” for a few seconds, then “Ready to connect”.
  2. In Second LifeClick it and open its linkAs its owner, click the vendor, then Go to page in the “Set up this vendor” window. If you’re asked to sign in, the page carries on after.
  3. On the webConnect it and pick the productWith one shop, the page connects the vendor by itself. With several, choose the shop and click Connect to …. Then click your product under Pick a product to sync. The page shows Vendor synced.
  4. In Second LifeAccept DEBITBack in Second Life, a window asks to let the vendor take money from your account (why). Click Allow access.

“linked - touch to pick the product” in your chatYou left the page before picking a product. Click the vendor to get the product list.
The page says This link has expired or This link isn't validA link lasts 24 hours. Click the vendor again for a fresh one.

No product under Pick a product to syncOnly Active and Sold-out products are listed. Create one with New product, or set yours back to Active (Products).

The owner menu

Before it sells, click it to open your menu. Once it sells, a click opens Pay for everyone, so right-click it → Promo. A customer who does the same gets the promo code box.

Sync nowReloads its settings from Plurion and reports its name and region (rename the prim, then Sync now). Asks for DEBIT again if it’s missing.
Magic linkOpens its setup page, where you pick another product.
Reset identityThe vendor leaves your shop and starts over as a new, unconnected vendor. Its past sales stay.

On Vendors, click Re-link on its row (or Magic link in its owner menu), then click another product. A vendor with no product yet shows Configure instead.

To pause sales, set the product to Draft or Sold out on Products. All its vendors hide their Pay button and keep their picture. Set it back to Active to sell again. If you delete the product, its vendors go back to “Ready to connect”.

Prices and changes

Change a price, a product or its picture on the dashboard, and every vendor concerned updates within seconds. A vendor that stops receiving changes is marked Unreachable on Vendors (see below).

What if someone pays an old price?

Plurion checks the price at the moment of each sale. So a vendor still showing an old price (a change on its way, a scheduled discount that just started or ended) never keeps the wrong amount:

  • If the buyer paid more than the current price, the sale goes through and the vendor refunds the difference at once.
  • If the buyer paid less, the sale is refused and fully refunded. The price of a discount that ended less than 3 minutes ago is still honored.
  • Either way, the vendor receives the current price straight away.

Its picture, copies and moves

A vendor shows its product’s SL texture, set on the product’s page (how). An uploaded picture shows on the web only. Edit image, the picture icon on a vendor’s row, sets the texture for a product that has none yet.

Another vendor for the same productCopy a working one (Shift-drag, or Take Copy and rez it, even in another region). The copy sells the same product at once. Accept DEBIT for it. More on copies.
Move a vendorTake it and rez it again, anywhere. Same vendor, same sales. Accept DEBIT again.
Put it in another of my shopsOwner menu → Reset identity, then click it and choose the shop.
Get rid of itDelete it in-world, then remove its row with the bin on Vendors. Its sales stay.

The Vendors page

Vendors lists every vendor in your shop, grouped By region (click a region to open it) or By product. The search finds a product, SKU or region.

Vendors, grouped by region
On the pageWhat it means and what to do
Green dot · ActiveIt answered in the last 24 hours. Plurion checks in with every vendor daily, so an idle vendor stays Active.
Amber dot · StaleNo answer for 1 to 7 days. Usually its region is down, or the vendor was taken back or deleted in-world.
1 · GhostsVendors silent for over 7 days, hidden from the list. Press Ghosts to see them, tick them, then Delete. A deleted ghost still rezzed in-world starts over as a new, unconnected vendor.
2 · UnreachablePlurion can’t send it changes, so it sells with its old settings. Its next sale reconnects it, or click the vendor → Sync now. If the badge stays, reset its script, then accept DEBIT. Gone in-world? Delete it.
3 · v0.8.5 · updateIts script is older than the current one. It keeps selling.
4 · Re-link / ConfigurePick or change its product (see above).

Common questions

Can one vendor sell several products?
No, a vendor sells one product. For a wall of products, copy a vendor and link each copy to another product. For a random draw, see Gacha.
How many vendors can one DropBox serve?
As many as you like. Any live DropBox of your shop that holds the item delivers it, whichever vendor sold it. A second DropBox in another region keeps deliveries going when the first is busy or its region is down.
